Present is ideal for first-time-buyers, says expert

The next year may be tough in some ways for the housing industry,
but it could provide many good opportunities for first-time buyers
to get on the ladder, it has been suggested.
Diane England, the regional housing expert for Persimmon Homes in
the Lancashire and Cumbria region, commented that "now is actually
as good a time to buy as any".
She remarked that this is the case partly because of lower interest
rates and partly because house prices have fallen, with this
meaning that first-time buyers and house movers alike could be able
to acquire a larger house than would otherwise be the case.
Ms England said there has been plenty of buyer interest in its
properties in the region.
Yesterday saw another developer, Miller Homes, also suggesting
there are positives to be found in the current market.
It noted there was a clear rise in buyer interest after the
November base rate cut of 1.5 per cent.
